Application
Step 1: Prep the Hair
Prep the hair by spraying Purify and Revive PRIME generously throughout the hair, combing through for even distribution and allowing to sit for 3 minutes (no rinsing or shampoo required) to diminish any hard water minerals.
Pro Tip
Minerals are found in 85% of household water which can cause lightener to puff and swell or color to take inaccurately.
Step 2: Global Blonding
Using your favorite Global Blonding technique, pre-lighten the hair to Level 9 utilizing the Lightening Formula.
Pro Tip
If your client had a previous VIVIDS application, diminish any faded color by applying the VIVIDS Diminishing Formula for 5-15 minutes.
Shampoo the hair with PRAVANA Intense Therapy Cleanse. Rinse, towel-dry and apply Silk Degrees Prep & Treat for 5 minutes at the basin to equalize the porosity and provide anchoring sites for your color application. Rinse and dry the hair completely.
Step 3: VIVIDS Application
Take a radial parting from behind the ear to behind the ear and another parting from nose to nape to create the PRAVANA standard 4 quadrants. Starting in a front quadrant, apply VIVIDS Formula 1 to the base dragging it down 2-3 inches. Then apply VIVIDS Formula 3 to the midlengths and ends, blending the transition point well. Repeat throughout the front and back quadrant. Then move to the other side repeating the same method switching to VIVIDS Formula 2 melted into VIVIDS Formula 3.
Pro Tip
Add a few grams of a VIVIDS shade opposite on the color wheel (in this case VIVIDS Orange) to neutralize any remaining color after diminishing previous VIVIDS applications (here pale blue).
Process all 30 minutes at room temperature. Rinse with cold water and high water pressure until the water runs clear, condition with PRAVANA Color Protect Condition and style as desired.
Step 4: Styling
Taking a triangular section in the crown on one side of the part 1-2” back from the hairline. Apply a rubber band to secure, then apply a second rubber band about 3” below the first one. Holding on to the second rubber band, gently pull out each side of the hair above the band creating a “bubble”. Apply another rubber band 3” down and repeat the same process. Then braid the remaining ends to finish the section and repeat on the other side.
Pro Tip
Create a festive look criss-crossing the color and adding different size braids and bubble braids.
