Application
Step 1: Sectioning
Divide the hair into eight sections by first isolating the fringe taking a diagonal forward parting from 2” back from the hairline to the outside corner of the eyebrow on each side. On either side of the part, create a diamond section by taking a diagonal back parting from the outside corner of the eyebrow to the crown, then create a point towards the nape connecting to the part. Create a triangle under the diamond section on each side by taking a diagonal forward parting from the crown to the front of the ear. Finally create two sections in the back by taking a vertical parting down the center back and a horizontal parting along the bottom of the occipital bone. The remaining hair in the nape is your final section.
Pro Tip
Diminish any hard water minerals that can cause lighteners to puff and swell with Purify & Revive PRIME Demineralizing Spray before sectioning.
Step 2: Pre-Lightening
On each side of the head starting 1½” above the ear taking diagonal forward partings, create three back-to-back slices and apply the Lightening Formula. Moving to the Fringe section starting 1” above the hairline, take two back-to-back horizontal slices and apply the Lightening Formula.
Pro Tip
Take thin 1/8” sections and apply the Lightening Formula like cream cheese on a bagel for full saturation.
The Lightening Formula processes up to 55 minutes. Make sure to check every 5-10 minutes and remove it when you reach a Level 9/10.
Step 3: Base Color Application
Apply ChromaSilk HydraGloss Formula 1 to the base by taking ½” sections and alternating dragging it down 1-2”. Then go back through taking the same ½” sections and alternate applying ChromaSilk HydraGloss Formula 1 and ChromaSilk HydraGloss Formula 2 to the midlengths and ends.
Pro Tip
Use a foil and/or cotton to create a barrier where you have placed the foils to keep the color from bleeding into the lightener.
ChromaSilk HydraGloss processes 20 minutes at room temperature. Cleanse the hair thoroughly with PRAVANA’s Intense Therapy Cleanse and dry the hair completely.
Step 4: Accent Color Application
Apply ChromaSilk HydraGloss Formula 1 to the pre-lightened peekaboo sections taking ½” partings and applying from roots to ends.
Process 20 minutes at room temperature. Cleanse and condition with PRAVANA’s Color Protect regimen and style as desired.
