Application
Step 1: Prep
Prep the hair by spraying Purify & Revive PRIME Demineralizing Spray generously throughout the hair, combing through for even distribution and allowing to sit for 3 minutes (no rinsing or shampoo required). This will diminish any hard water minerals prior to any chemical service.
Pro Tip
Minerals are found in 85% of household water which can cause lightener to puff and swell or color to take inaccurately.
Step 2: Global Blonding
Section into the PRAVANA Standard 4 quadrants to create a working guide by first parting from ear to ear and then nose to nape. Taking thin 1/8” sections, apply Lightening Formula 1 on scalp to the new regrowth only. Optional: To bump Level 9 mid-lengths and ends up to Level 10 to match, apply the same formula on well towel-dried hair at the sink for 5-10 minutes.
Pro Tip
Sections should be thin enough to read a newspaper through for even saturation.
Step 3: Toning
Apply the Toning Formula at the sink applying to the roots first, then apply to the mid-lengths and ends.
Pro Tip
Express Tones process in 5 minutes or less, but may be left on up to 20 minutes for full deposit.
Rinse and apply Intense Therapy Condition, rinse again and dry the hair completely.
Step 4: Custom Color the Extensions
Apply the VIVIDS Formulas with a free-hand balayage method leaving about 4 inches at the top blonde so they will blend into the natural hair. Utilize the 3-inch rule applying generously to both sides of the hair reloading your brush every 3 inches for vibrant results.
Pro Tip
Always strand test artificial hair to determine whether you need to prep first with lightener to remove any coating that would prevent the color from taking.
Process for 30 minutes at room temperature, rinse until the water runs clear and apply Intense Therapy Condition. Rinse and dry the extensions completely.
Step 5: Install the Extensions
Curl the client’s natural hair with a 1-1/2” long barrel curling iron directing all curls from the front temples to the center back then curl the extensions. Place the clip-in extensions using your own creativity for a PRIDE rainbow color pattern or using George’s formulas for a traditional PRIDE flag pattern of Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Violet-Pink. Allow the curls to cool and comb through to blend the natural hair into the extensions.
