Application
Prep the hair with Purify & Revive PRIME Demineralizing Spray. This will diminish any hard water minerals prior to any chemical service which can cause lightener to puff and swell or color to take inaccurately.
Step 1: Section
Section out the perimeter of the hairline about 2 inches in depth. Then divide the hair left on top into four quadrants to create a working guide.
Step 2: Pre-Lighten
Using a Global Blonding method, apply the Lightening Formula to the perimeter taking 1/8” sections.
Pro Tip
It is important to take thin sections that you can “read a newspaper through” and saturate well for even global blonding results.
Step 3: Color Application
While the lightener processes, apply the Base Color Formula to the roots first, then apply the same formula to the mid-lengths and ends.
Pro Tip
Apply foils or meche sheets over the perimeter lightener to create a barrier while you apply the Color Formula to the top.
Process 30 minutes at room temperature checking the lightener every 5-10 minutes until you have reached a Level 9 Light Yellow. Shampoo the hair with Color Protect Cleanse and apply Silk Degrees Prep and Treat for 5 minutes to equalize the porosity after lightening and for more longevity of the VIVIDS application. Rinse and dry the hair completely.
Step 4: VIVIDS Application
Section out the lightened perimeter and apply the ChromaSilk VIVIDS Formulas to the first side of the head—Formula 1 closest to the face, then Formula 2 to the middle and then Formula 3 in the back in equal size sections. Mirror on the other side.
Pro Tip
For even saturation when applying VIVIDS direct dyes, make sure to reload your brush every 3 inches and apply generously with a side-to-side motion as well as an up and down motion. We call this the “3-inch Rule”.
Process 30 minutes at room temperature. Rinse with cold water with high water pressure until the water runs clear. Apply Color Protect Condition to all of the hair and rinse. Style as desired.
