Application
Step 1: Prep the Hair
Prep the hair by spraying Purify & Revive PRIME Demineralizing Spray generously throughout the hair, combing through for even distribution and allowing it to sit for 3 minutes (no rinsing or shampoo required). This will diminish any hard water minerals prior to any chemical service.
Pro Tip
Minerals are found in 85% of household water which can cause lightener to puff and swell or color to take inaccurately.
Step 2: Global Blonding
Taking thin 1/8” sections, apply the Lightening Formula ½” away from the regrowth to the previously lightened hair. Once the hair has achieved 70% of the desired lift, apply the same formula on scalp.
Pro Tip
Use a platinum card (back-to-back) foil method for more control taking care not to overlap previously lightened hair.
Process up to 55 minutes at room temperature checking every 5-10 minutes until you reach a Level 9. Shampoo only with PRAVANA’s Intense Therapy Cleanse, towel-dry and apply Silk Degrees Prep and Treat for 5 minutes at the sink, rinse and completely dry the hair.
Step 3: Section the Hair
Divide the front and back by parting from ear to ear. Create one large inverted triangle in the back with the point at the nape by taking a parting on each side from the top of the occipital bone to the nape creating two smaller triangles on either side for a total of three sections. Create a triangle on the top of the head with the point at the apex by taking two partings from the apex to the top of the parietal ridge in the front hairline. Divide the remaining hair into two equal size sections on either side of the head for a total of five sections in the front.
Pro Tip
When creating rainbow looks, the point of triangular sections allow each color to flow into the next for an all-over cohesive vibe.
Step 4: Vivids Base Application
Apply VIVIDS Formula 1 to the first 3” of the nape area to create depth.
Pro Tip
Applying a deeper formula in the nape area creates depth for a high contrast look when the rainbow shades are applied above.
Step 5: Vivids Rainbow Application
Apply the rest of the VIVIDS shades by taking 1” sections and alternating the remaining VIVIDS shades. Choose the VIVIDS shades you like to customize your own VIVIDS PRIDE look—the VIVIDS shades used here as just one example of the infinite amount of rainbows you can create!
Pro Tip
Cover each section with a foil or meche sheet to keep your colors separate for maximum vibrancy and layer your foils vs folding so you do not create a crease which could leave a blank spot in the final result.
Process 30 minutes at room temperature. Rinse with cold water and high water pressure until the water runs clear, then apply PRAVANA’s Color Protect Condition. Rinse and style as desired.
