Application
Step 1: Prep
Prep the hair by spraying Purify & Revive PRIME Demineralizing Spray generously throughout the hair, combing through for even distribution and allowing to sit for 3 minutes (no rinsing or shampoo required). This will diminish any hard water minerals prior to any chemical service.
Pro Tip
Minerals are found in 85% of household water which can cause lightener to puff and swell or color to take inaccurately.
Step 2: Section
Divide the hair into the PRAVANA Standard 4 Quadrants by taking a radial parting from behind the ear to behind the ear and a second parting from nose to nape.
Pro Tip
Sectioning the hair ahead of time creates a roadmap for your final result.
Step 3: Asymmetrical Accent
In one of the front quadrants for an asymmetrical accent, beginning 1” above the ear create six highlights in foil by taking horizontal partings utilizing the following pattern of weaving the hair: Micro Stitch (- – -), Stitch (– — –), Slice (——), Slice (——), Stitch (– — –) and Micro Stitch (- – -). Apply the Lightening Formula.
Pro Tip
Apply the lightener one inch down from the top of the foil, then go back turning your brush to feather the lightener towards the scalp to avoid bleed marks.
Process at room temperature checking every 5-10 minutes until you have reached a Level 9.
Step 4: Base Color Application
While the asymmetrical accent is processing, apply the Base Formula to all four quadrants.
Pro Tip
Drag the Base Formula down less in the front and further in the back for added natural dimension.
Step 5: Midlengths and Ends Color Application
Taking Diagonal Back partings and 1” sections, alternate Formula 1 and Formula 2 throughout the mid-lengths and ends blending them into the Base Formula with your middle and index fingers.
Pro Tip
Start and end your application with the lightest formula (Formula 1) around the face for added brightness.
Process 30 minutes at room temperature. Cleanse the hair with PRAVANA’s Color Protect Cleanse and towel-dry.
Step 6: Toning
Apply the Toning Formula to the pre-lightened Asymmetrical Accent.
Process 5 minutes at room temperature. Cleanse with PRAVANA’s Color Protect Cleanse, then rinse and apply PRAVANA’s Color Protect Condition all over. Rinse and style as desired.
